Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of teachers in the implementation of inclusive education in Indonesia, focusing on the skills, training, and support needed to create inclusive and competitive classrooms. Through a qualitative approach and case study design, data were collected from 20 teachers across various education levels using semi-structured interviews and classroom observations. The research findings indicate that skills such as curriculum adaptation, the application of diverse teaching strategies, and effective communication are crucial for the success of inclusive education. Teachers who are well-trained in inclusive practices tend to have greater success in enhancing the participation and achievement of students with special needs. Additionally, the study found that relevant and ongoing practical training, along with policy support from schools, significantly influence teachers' readiness to manage inclusive classrooms. Parental involvement in the educational process also positively contributes to student success. These findings provide valuable insights for the development of inclusive education in Indonesia and emphasize the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders, including the government, educational institutions, and communities, to create a supportive learning environment for all students. Therefore, this research is expected to serve as a reference for formulating better policies in support of the implementation of inclusive education in Indonesia.
