Abstract

This research explores the economic and social impacts of the development of the Islamic tourism industry, viewed from a sustainable development lens. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the economic and social impacts of Islamic tourism development. More specifically, the study aims to assess the contribution of Islamic tourism to the local economy, job creation, community empowerment, and cultural preservation. The research methodology utilizes an experimental design involving descriptive and exploratory analysis, focusing on primary and secondary data. The findings of this study reveal significant positive impacts of Islamic tourism on economic and social aspects. Economically, Islamic tourism contributes to increased income and employment opportunities. Socially, Islamic tourism contributes to increased community engagement and cultural awareness. This research makes an important contribution in understanding the potential of Islamic tourism in promoting sustainable development. By highlighting the economic and social dynamics, this study provides important insights for policy makers, industry practitioners, and academics on the importance of integrating sharia principles into tourism development strategies
